The United States of America
is the world's third largest country in size and nearly the third largest in
terms of population. Located in North America, the country is bordered on the
west by the Pacific Ocean and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Along the
northern border is Canada and the southern border is Mexico. There are 50
states and the District of Columbia.

Throughout
its history, the United States has been a nation of immigrants. The population
is diverse with people from all over the world seeking refuge and a better way

country is divided into six regions: New England, the mid-Atlantic, the South,
the Midwest, the Southwest, and the West. European settlers came to New England
in search of religious freedom. These states are Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

The United States is the fourth largest country in
the world and has a territory of 9.37 million square meters. Furthermore, they
have the third largest population in the world with more than 333 million
inhabitants, behind only China and India.

States is that the law is not unique across the country. That is: it changes
according to the state.
Christmas was not allowed
Although Christmas is a date very connected to
American culture, due to Christmas movies, this party was not allowed in the
country until 1832.
New York had another name
New York City did not receive its name until the
17th century (1664). Before that, the place was called New Amsterdam.

that New York City was the country's first capital. However, the period was
very short, only five years (1785 to 1790).
Statue of Liberty
There are many curiosities about the United States,
and one of them is that the Statue of Liberty, symbol of democracy in the
country, was a gift from Napoleon III in honor of the centenary of the victory
of the North Americans, in the battle against England, which decreed the
country's independence. This fact occurred in 1886.

Philadelphia (Pennsylvania), was built in London (England).

The largest library in the world is located in the
US, in the capital Washington. The Library of Congress opened in 1800 with just
740 books. However, today it has a collection of more than 155 million works,
in over 400 different languages.
US elections
Elections in the United States are a little
different from those in Brazil. There, the vote is printed (on a paper ballot)
and is not mandatory.
Lunch is very different
In the United States, lunch is very different from
Brazilian lunch. There they eat just a snack or something healthier at that
meal. The reason for this is the short lunch break.
But breakfast...
Breakfast is one of the most important meals for
Americans. That's why they go the extra mile and prepare a meal consisting of
eggs, bacon, waffles, pancakes, juices, among other things.

American cultural products are widely consumed here
in Brazil and in other parts of the world. Every year, several films, series
and songs are released across the planet and consumed by people from different
countries.
